Age of Empires is a real-time strategy game centered on historical civilizations and their respective struggles for dominance. You forage for food, gather resources like gold, stone and wood, and advance your race through the ages, all the while fending off enemies and instigating your own virtual genocide. You start off small, with nothing more than a town center and a few peasants and from this meager beginning slowly add infrastructure to your civilization that either enhances your resource gathering or pumps out tons of varied military units. It's a tried and true formula that has worked for a slew of real-time strategy games, perhaps none better than Age Of Empires.

Control your tribe with the mouse. Make them build houses, docks, farms, and temples. Advance your civilization through time by learning new skills . The game allows for the player to advance through the ages: stone age, tool age, bronze age. If the player would rather get away from the historical aspect, the game offers a random terrain generator and a custom scenario builder.
