Arcatera: The Dark Brotherhood is a German-developed RPG published by Ubisoft, set in a richly detailed medieval city where a shadowy conspiracy threatens the entire kingdom. Developed over twelve years by Westka Interactive, this is a niche and ambitious project with a distinctive European flavour that sets it apart from other RPGs of its era.

It is an adventure game, but one with a few twists. The whole game spans three weeks in one city where you must work to uncover a mystery and solve a crime. The premise is genuinely compelling - think political intrigue and urban mystery rather than dungeon crawling.

The interface is relatively simple (just point and click), but the game is fully 3D and features stunning graphics. Over 200 locations and as many as ten different endings make the game huge in scope. Arcatera is only available in Europe, with no North American distribution.
