"Close Combat III: The Russian Front is the best Close Combat game of the bunch. 9.2/10!' - Gamespot

Unlike most WWII real time strategy games, this one takes place on the Eastern Front! It is 1941, and Germany is launching Operation Barbarossa: the invasion of Russia. Finally, a game that captures the magnitude of this epic, 4-year-long battle that ultimately sealed the end of the 3rd Reich!

Close Combat III: The Russian Front is the third in the award-winning Close Combat series, puts you in command of either the Red Army or the German Blitzkrieg in the epic Eastern Front struggle of World War II.
Spanning four years, from the 1941 invasion of the Soviet Union through to the 1945 fall of Berlin, Close Combat III combines all your favourite features from past Close Combat games, along with a variety of new twists and is as authentic as the more statistic-driven strategy games on the market.

Gamers are challenged to out-think and out-fight their opponent while keeping their troops alive. They start as low-ranking commanders and manage unit upgrade and maintenance as they attempt to advance in rank and acquire more troops and equipment. Lead wisely, and your troops might survive through the long cold winter months.

As with the previous CC games, this one is incredibly researched. The sounds of the dozens of different weapons, the hundreds of unit types, the terrain... it is just amazing how much work went into drawing the sprites and the maps. The best parts: it covers the entire Eastern Front battle from 41-45, and it has good multiplayer support.
