The story follows Kyle Travers - brother of classic Final Fight hero Cody - a streetwise underground pit fighter whose world is turned upside down when Cody mysteriously disappears amid the chaos of a dangerous new drug flooding Metro City's streets. A Respect system drives your progression through the city - earn it by winning pit fights, completing side missions, beating down enemies, and playing mini-games, then spend it on powerful new fighting skills, hardcore weapons, and NPC assistance vital for uncovering the truth behind your brother's disappearance.

The combat is the game's most praised element - satisfying hand-to-hand brawling that rewards learning combos and supercombos, backed by a wealth of classic Final Fight weapons from pool cues and lead pipes through to shotguns and automatic firearms. Five distinct areas of Metro City can be freely explored, with NPCs to interact with, side missions to discover, money to earn for weapons and information, and hired sidekicks available to back you up in tougher encounters.
