High Heat Major League Baseball 2003 was the first baseball game released on the PS2 in 2002, and it gives you a packed ballpark of modes, all 30 MLB teams and a TV-style presentation that makes every game feel like a broadcast. If you enjoy the more realistic style of MVP Baseball or All-Star Baseball, this offers a similar sim-leaning approach to America's pastime, with plenty of ways to play.

All 30 teams and stadiums from the 2002 season are available, and about 350 star players have texture-mapped faces for a more authentic look. The presentation brings real baseball theatre to the screen: quick camera cuts catch a fielder arguing a close call, an umpire dramatically punching out a batter or a coach flashing hitting signs. The ballpark atmosphere adds to it all, with PA announcements, organ music, chanting crowds and vendors working the stands. Curt Schilling, co-MVP of the World Series, is the cover athlete.

Beyond Exhibition and Season, there's a long list of modes: Home Run Derby, All-Star Game, Batting Practice, Playoffs and a Two-on-Two Showdown. You can make your own star with Create-A-Player, run a Fantasy Draft and edit any existing player in the game. Five AI skill levels and individual slider bars let you tune the challenge to your own style, whether you want a casual game or a more demanding simulation.
