Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter - PC Game

You are looking at computer game Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter.

Heart of Winter is an expansion pack for Icewind Dale that is expected to add an additional 15-25 hours of gameplay. The adventures take you to the small fishing village Lonelywood, which has been beseiged barbarians. The expansion removes the experience cap so characters can attain 30th level, and offers sixty new spells and over one hundread new magic items. The add-on also improves the user interface by introducing additional stash for jewels and scrolls, higher stacking of items and so on. Based on the logo, a white dragon might be in the game.

Pick up after the conclusion of Icewind Dale, peace has returned to Icewind Dale. Or so it seems as there is a plot afoot by the northern Barbarians to attack the Ten Towns. It is up to you and your party to investigate and stop this plot.

This expansion on the original game is definitely along the same lines. The game focuses on epic battles and powerful magics, relying on the plot only to provide a background for the fighting and spell-casting. You can import your party from the original game and continue your adventure. The game is also enriched with a bunch of new monsters, such as polar worms, all sorts of barbarians and undead. Moreover, there are 60 new spells for mages, druids and priests, as well as 80 new magical items. Thanks to the new offensive spells, druids and priests are now more useful in combat. Battles are now much more Baldur's Gate 2-esque than in the original, relying heavily on strategy and spell-casting to combat very powerful enemies.

This expansion requires the original Icewind Dale to be installed.

Black Isle Studios has released a free, downloadable (72 MB), add-in adventure for Heart of Winter called Trials of the Luremaster.
