Lord of the Rings: The Third Age - PS2 Game

You are looking at Play Station 2 game Lord of the Rings: The Third Age

The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age is a turn-based RPG on PS2 from EA that tells an original story running parallel to the events of the film trilogy, following a new fellowship of characters through familiar locations from Middle-earth. For fans of the films who also enjoy classic RPG combat, this is an ambitious and satisfying tie-in.

Combat uses a Final Fantasy-style turn-based battle system, with your fellowship of five original characters growing in power and unlocking new abilities as you progress through iconic locations including Helm's Deep, Moria, and the fields of Pelennor. Movie footage and audio are woven throughout, giving the game genuine cinematic connection to Peter Jackson's trilogy even while following its own characters.

The game was praised for successfully translating the epic scale and atmosphere of Middle-earth into an accessible RPG format, with genuinely well-crafted turn-based combat. For LOTR fans who enjoy RPGs, The Third Age offers a substantial and rewarding way to revisit Middle-earth.

Your original fellowship - including the Gondorian soldier Berethor, the elven ranger Idrial, and the dwarven berserker Hadhod - each level up and specialise across genuinely distinct character classes, giving battles real tactical variety. Turn-based combat set against the backdrop of Rohan, Gondor, and Mordor lets you refight the trilogy's most iconic confrontations from an entirely new perspective. A substantial and rewarding pick for LOTR fans who also enjoy classic turn-based RPG combat.
