Marvel's Avengers is a superhero action brawler from Crystal Dynamics that delivers a genuinely thrilling single player campaign. For fans of Earth's Mightiest Heroes looking for a cinematic solo adventure, there's a lot of fun to be found here.

The story centres on Kamala Khan - a young Ms. Marvel superfan who gains her own shapeshifting powers during the catastrophic A-Day event, a disaster that disbands the Avengers and turns public opinion against superheroes. Five years later, Kamala sets out to prove AIM - the shadowy tech corporation that stepped in to fill the void - is hiding a dangerous secret, and that the world still needs its heroes. The campaign is the game's clear strength - roughly ten hours of exciting set pieces, excellent character writing, and genuinely fun superhero combat that lets you step into the boots of Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Black Widow, and Kamala herself. Each hero plays completely differently, from Thor's aerial hammer combat to Hulk's earth-shaking ground-pound brawling, and switching between them never gets old.

Combat across the board is fast, fluid, and enormously satisfying - light attacks, heavy attacks, ranged abilities, and spectacular heroic moves combine into a deep and enjoyable action system that makes you feel genuinely powerful throughout. A gear and ability upgrade system adds RPG-style progression to each hero's development.

It's worth noting the game's online servers have since been shut down, making this a purely single player experience at this point. The campaign alone however offers a polished, fun, and visually spectacular Marvel adventure well worth experiencing for fans of the franchise.
