Unlike previous entries in the series, Confrontation has no campaign or offline play - the entire experience takes place online, where you'll choose to fight as one of several elite international special forces units, including the US Navy SEALs, British SAS, German KSK, Spanish Special Operations Unit, and French Marine Infantry Parachute Regiment. Deep character customisation lets you fine-tune your loadout across armour, camouflage, weapons, and attachments before heading into battle.

Seven distinct game modes keep matches varied, spanning classic team deathmatch in Suppression mode, checkpoint control objectives, and tense hostage extraction scenarios. Matches support up to 32 players across large, water-filled maps packed with cover and hiding spots, rewarding players who move carefully and communicate well with their squad. The Sixaxis motion sensor adds a tactile layer to gameplay, letting you lean around corners and peek over obstacles with subtle controller movements. A robust clan system with leaderboards, tournaments, and dedicated clan features gives competitive players plenty of long-term goals to chase.
