Los Angeles, 2005. In the next seven days, representatives from every nation around the world will converge on Los Angeles to witness the signing of the United Nations Nuclear Abolishment Treaty. The protection of these dignitaries falls on the shoulders of one organization, LAPD SWAT. As part of the elite tactical organization, you and your team have the weapons and all the training necessary to protect, to serve and, when needed, to use deadly force to keep the peace.

Developed hand-in-hand with the Los Angeles Police Department SWAT unit, SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle places you in stunningly realistic Los Angeles locations. As the element leader of your SWAT entry team, you must defuse potentially deadly situations and preserve the lives of the innocent at all costs.

Swat 3 is a tactical FPS, where the player is in control of a five man strike team, and it's up to them to guide the other two-man teams to complete each mission, for a total of 16, ranging from dangerous arrests, hostage rescue, VIP escort to track and disarm bombs, while visiting landmarks of the city such as the City Hall or the Convention Center (where the E3 takes place). To help the strike team, each officer has one of four standard-issue weapons to choose from, a sidearm and utilities such as glowsticks, C2 door breaching charges, CS gas, flashbangs and the always useful optiwand, to know what's after the corner and the Leatherman tool, to disable electronic devices and unlock doors.
