Vietcong: Purple Haze is a narrative-based first-person shooter (FPS) set during the Vietnam Conflict. Players experience the war from the perspective of a soldier assigned to a squad of U.S. Special Forces running reconnaissance missions deep into the jungles of Northern Vietnam.

This first-person shooter takes you straight to the jungle on 'Nam, in the heat of the battle where your only ally is your ability to blend into surroundings. Whether through singleplayer mission or multiplayer mode, you will experience what it means to be in boots of an american soldier (or Vietnamese in multiplayer) and relying upon the rest of your team. You can issue orders to your team members, plan your attack, deactivate possible traps, call in an airstrike, pick up enemy weapons, and more. Over 18 dramatic missions give depth to the cinematic single-player campaign.

Aside the suspenseful storyline, the multiplayer is extended to provide you with several well designed maps on which you can select several different gameplay methods, from clearing the ruins of enemy presence in co-op mode, and protecting the relay station while enemy (either other players of computer AI) is marching attack upon you, to typical capture the flag and deathmatch modes.

The Fist Alpha mission pack allows you to penetrate even deeper into the jungles of Vietnam as part of an elite U.S. Special Forces team. Seek out and destroy the Vietcong and North Vietnamese Army in seven new single player missions, then join the fray on-line in one of 8 new on-line multi-player maps.

Multiplayer available over the internet for up to 64 players.
