You are looking at computer game War Gods.

Many, many years ago, a spaceship carrying precious life-giving ore crashes to Earth. The chunks of ore scatter across the planet, and over the years, ten humans each find a stone of the ore, and are transformed into powerful beings, War Gods. And now, they are fighting each other to possess all the stones and become the ultimate super-warrior.

Midway makers of the classic MORTAL KOMBAT series have introduced a new fighting game, WAR GODS for the PC. It is very similar to Midway's more famous Mortal Kombat series in featuring a great deal of gore and horrific fatalities. The array of playable characters feature gods (or, more accurately, immortals). One featured character in the game was Anubis, the Ancient Egyptian guardian of the underworld, and the Jackal God. Other characters were more reminiscent of Roman gladiators such as "Maximus", the houngan "Voodoo", the questionable Kabuki Jo and the obviously fictional cybernetic "CY-5".

The gameplay leaps into the third dimension, requiring players to learn a new set of skills to be able to compete. A straight port of the arcade version, WAR GODS features 10 different playable characters as well as the option to battle against a friend, adding a lot of replay value to this already revolutionary title.

The fighter under your control can perform many different moves, and string those moves together to perform "combos." Furthermore, the fighters all have special "finishing moves" that eliminate your opponent in some gruesome manner at the end of a match. There are 10 different fighters to choose from, all based on different ancient civilizations.

The graphics in War Gods are fairly unique. They were created by texture-mapping 3D character models with digitized photos of people. This gives them a reasonably lifelike look.
