World War III: Black Gold takes place in the near future, when oil supplies are limited and political tensions are high. The combination of factors proves to be too great for the industrialized nations to bear, and they declare World War III. The game features full-3D graphics and a wide variety of units and vehicles.

With one of the 3 parties (USA, Russia or Iraq) you have to play the 2 campaigns. Each campaign has 5 missions. You can build all buildings like every other RTS. You can also spend resources in research (weapons or technologies). In World War 3 you have to choose between 15 units and 13 buildings

Every party has a specific skill. The Americans can overtake buildings, the Russians have chemical weapons and the Iraqis are good in camouflage.
