When the evil Portal Master Kaos destroys the Core of Light and blasts the Skylanders into the real world as plastic figurines, it falls to you - the new Portal Master - to place them on the Portal of Power and bring them back to life on screen. The result is a gaming concept that genuinely feels like magic.

Placing a figure on the Portal of Power and watching that character appear on screen is simply awesome - and the character data is saved directly to the figurine itself, meaning your experience points, upgrades, stats and even the hat your Skylander is wearing all travel with you to any platform, any friend's house, anywhere.

The environments carry a high-end cartoon quality, while the music and sound design are top notch - with excellent little touches like each Skylander having a unique footstep sound. All 32 Skylanders across eight elemental types play drastically differently from each other, and swapping figures mid-game to tackle elemental gates and challenges gives the adventure real strategic depth. Think of it as a kid-friendly action RPG in the vein of Diablo or Torchlight - collecting coins, upgrading abilities, and battling through colourful stages with a friend in local co-op.

IGN and Game Informer both awarded it 8/10, praising its inventive concept and family-friendly appeal. Kids and collectors alike love it for the combination of physical toys and digital adventure - a genuinely fresh idea executed with real charm.
