Onimusha: Warlords is set in 16th century Japan during the period of the civil war dominated by Nobunaga Oda. However, Akechi is given another chance at life, and is handed the gauntlet of the Ogres.

With this new power Samanosuke must fight through the monster-filled halls of Inabayama Castle. As monsters are defeated, their souls are absorbed by the gauntlet, increasing its power. Some souls restore Samanosuke's health and magic, while others can be used to power up weapons, armor, and items. Powering up weapons will increase their damage and the strength of their associated magic, and is also required to pass by special locks throughout the castle. Items will need to be found in one part of the castle to unlock doors or otherwise bypass obstacles elsewhere in the castle, and sometimes the player will take control of Samanosuke's companion Kaede while Samanosuke is incapacitated in some way. Kaede can reach some locations that are beyond Samanosuke as well as pick locks and throw kunai, but she can not absorb souls or open any lock intended for the wearer of the Ogre gauntlet.

A movie involving giant transforming robots beating the tar out of each other though presents a straightforward source of inspiration for an action game. The end result here is sort of Grand Theft Auto with giant robots, with no need to steal cars - because you are the car!

A complex storyline is not one of the movie's primary achievements so this game tries to provide as much freedom as possible in exploring the game world and competing in a wide range of missions - from world saving story related tasks to more laid back driving and flying races. You get to play as any of nine different Transformers, including good guys and bad guys, some of which aren't even in the movie.

What makes the game interesting is the way in which being a 30 foot tall robot genuinely changes the dynamics of normal third person combat. Not only can you toss cars about like rugby balls and smack rival robos around with lamp posts, but each character has their own unique mix of Sci-Fi weaponry as well. With the ability to transform into a car or jet fighter (or giant robot scorpion) at any time there's a degree of tactical flexibility in the game that's certainly far above that of most other more pedestrian film tie-ins.

The Haunted Mansion thrusts the player into the role of mild mannered ghost hunter Zeke Halloway. It's up to him, and him alone, to uncover the truth behind the murders that have plagued the building since the day it was built. To do this he'll need to rely on his natural talents, an ability to speak to the dead and the six power settings of an ancient magical lamp.

The Haunted Mansion offer gamers the chance to search out secret rooms and unlock virtual tours of the Disney ride, it also gives them an opportunity to play as a ghost, collect the death certificates of the gathered ghouls and then use them to solve the game's central murder mystery. Players will also get a chilled thrill out of battling skeletal sharks, armoured knights, gruesome bridesmaids and, of course, shambling zombies while the dulcet tones of Jenifer Tilly - who also stars in the film - guides them from one objective to the next.

Players will make their way through a banquet hall, grand ballroom, armoury, conservatory, attic, mausoleum, and more while figuring out a way to bring the restless spirits haunting each room to peace. In order to find and activate the switches, players need to complete a variety of interactive puzzles, explore hidden passageways, and confront creatures such as giant spiders. Yet players are not entirely alone in their adventure, as the voice of deceased fortuneteller Madame Leota helps shed light on things where even Zeke's lantern cannot reach. This lantern is much more than a common tool, with the ability to fire projectiles as well as suck-up souls like a vacuum. The lantern can also be powered-up by completing tasks for some of the game's friendlier ghosts.
