Together with his brother Lance, a drug addict, the siblings try to take over Vice City.

Just like other GTA titles, gameplay consists of third-person shooting and driving sequences in an open environment. You will meet new enemies and gangs, and old foes. The missions require you to kill with a selection of weapons, steal vehicles such as a car, a boat, or a plane, rob to make it big, or just to have fun. New features for the portable version include swimming, and side missions such as Air Rescue, Vigilante, Firefighter, and Paramedic.

Similar to San Andreas' gang wars, this title has an Empire mode. To make money, you have to take over businesses from other gangs. By attacking and damaging rival businesses, it will be put up for sale, for you to take over. With a new building constructed, you can then choose an activity such as prostitution, drugs, protection racket, smuggling, robbery, or work as a loan shark. These activities earn money and the location in the city influences the revenue.

You play as Tommy Vercetti, a gangster who just got off a fifteen year prison sentence for not squealing on your friends. Because you didn't rat out your 'family', you're sent to work with Sonny Forelli, your previous boss. Sonny gives you an easy drug job, but everything goes wrong, and Tommy loses everything. Upon returning to Sonny, he gets mad and wants his money back. Unfortunately, everybody in Vice City, from gangsters and Cubans to bikers and politicians are in his way, and it's up to Tommy to clear a path.

GTA:VC takes everything from GTAIII and builds upon it. There are new cars in the game, reminiscent of cars from the 80s. Some cars are earlier versions of the vehicles you drove in GTAIII. New to VC is the ability to drive motorcycles. You can drive a variety of two-wheeled vehicles, from huge Harley-esque bikes to dirt bikes to your standard motorcycle.

To effectively capture the mood of the 1980s, the soundtrack has been altered to fit the time period. Players will listen to an estimated nine hours of music across 10 radio stations.

The Thing picks up where the film left off centering on the military investigation of enigmatic deaths of an American scientific team in the frozen wastelands of the Antarctic.
