'As the title suggests, this disc contains the first two games in the Strikers 1945 series, and fans of the arcade originals (myself included!) will be more than happy with the good quality ports included here.

The games involve flying an assortment of old World War II fighter aircraft, from a vertical top-down perspective, whilst blowing the daylights out of countless air and ground based enemies over a total of 16 stages (the first 8 stages are repeated with considerably more enemies on-screen, spewing faster and thicker patterns of bullets in the players general direction!).

If you are a fan of these classic old-skool SHMUPs and can forgive the omission of the later two games, you will be pleasantly surprised with what you find here.'

'Although games are getting increasingly complex from time to time, I find myself wanting a simple old style vertically scrolling shoot em up. Something along the lines of Raiden or Xenon. I discovered 1945 and wondered if it was an update of the 8 bit classic 1942. To my delight it is, okay this isn't the greatest or most original game in the world. It's a straight forward shoot em up that is insanely addictive. With various crafts with various powerups and smartbombs to help you blast away to oblivion. Both games are similar with 1945 part 2 having the edge and played in the original 2 player mode is best. Although short lived if you want an old school blast this is it and in my opinion is better than Psyvariar.'
