Hype: The Time Quest - PS2 Game

Hype: The Time Quest is a time-travelling action-adventure where the whole world is made of Playmobil toys, from the heroes and castles to the villains. If you've enjoyed the time-hopping, revisit-the-same-places structure of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, this has a similar feel, in a charming toybox world that kids will recognise at once.

The story begins with Hype, a brave knight, being turned to stone by the evil Black Knight, Barnak, and thrown back in time. He's freed by an amateur wizard named Gogoud, who becomes his sidekick, and the two set off to collect the magic jewels that will let Hype return to his own time, defeat Barnak and save the king and kingdom. Along the way you visit the same locations across different eras and see how people and places have changed with the passage of time. When Hype finally returns home, the once-happy kingdom has taken on a dark, post-apocalyptic atmosphere under Barnak's rule.

Gameplay mixes platforming, light puzzle-solving and combat. Hype uses his crossbow and magic spells, including an electrical spell for ghosts, and he can even ride his dragon, Zatila, for flying sections. If he's defeated he turns back into a statue, and once you finish an era you can return to it later, which you'll need to do as the story unfolds. The Playmobil styling gives the game a distinctive look, with characters and settings modelled on the real toys.

Features:

• Journey through time to collect magic jewels and defeat the Black Knight
• Revisit the same locations in different eras to see how they change
• Platforming, light puzzles and combat
• Crossbow, magic spells and a dragon, Zatila, to ride
• Playmobil characters and settings brought to life
