Final Fantasy X immerses the player into the world of Spira, a mythical land where technology has been shunned in favour of the inhabitants' main obsessions, the Yevon faith and Blitzball (an underwater fusion of water polo and martial arts).

Tidus is a young athlete who lives in a futuristic city of Zanarkand - the 'city that never sleeps'. He plays Blitzball, a ball game where players throw the ball while flying around. Suddenly, a terrible disaster happens. A huge dark wave engulfs the city, spawning monsters. Tidus comes in contact with the mysterious creature, and as a result finds himself in a different world, 1000 years into the future. The civilization he is used to doesn't exist any more. He learns that the world he knew was destroyed by Sin, a terrible being that is believed to be indestructible. Tidus meets a young summoner named Yuna, and joins her as a guardian on her quest to put an end to Sin.

Final Fantasy X is set in a world that is somewhat similar to South Asia. The game doesn't use the traditional level up system: instead, you receive sphere points after battles, and then upgrade your characters' parameters while moving on a special sphere map. The ATB (active time battle) system is replaced by turn-based combat. The characters are given distinct class attributes, and you can switch between all your party members during the same battle. Summoned monsters (called aeons in the game) now behave like playable characters, have their own HP, and can fight for the party until defeated.

The eighth entry in the RPG series about alchemists, Grand Phantasm is different from the previous Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana (1&2) in that it is a quest-based RPG where you travel back and forth between your home town base and five separate worlds. You play as Edge Vanhite, an adventurer who's part of a group called Mystruse. Mystruse has made a business of exploring other worlds, and together with your friend Iris Fortner, you spend your days accepting such quests from the adventurer's guild. Grand Phantasm makes use of a battle system called "Active Cost Card Battle," where cards on the top of the screen display what moves will appear next. New to the game is the Blaze Master System -- players can befriend different Manas in each world, earning the ability to fight as a Blaze Master, a warrior that uses weapons associated with the Mana.

Tidus comes in contact with the mysterious creature, and as a result finds himself in a different world, 1000 years into the future. The civilization he is used to doesn't exist any more. Tidus meets a young summoner named Yuna, and joins her as a guardian on her quest to put an end to Sin.

The game doesn't use the traditional level up system: instead, you receive sphere points after battles, and then upgrade your characters' parameters while moving on a special sphere map. The ATB (active time battle) system is replaced by turn-based combat. The characters are given distinct class attributes, and you can switch between all your party members during the same battle. Summoned monsters (called aeons in the game) now behave like playable characters, have their own HP, and can fight for the party until defeated.

The most popular Japanese game ever finally comes to the rest of the world, with a role-playing game of incredible size, depth and charm. These games were so popular in Japan that selling them during the weekdays became prohibited to stop them from drawing people away from their work. Lead your motley crew of heroes and heroines in a quest to restore the king as you fight the most bizarre line-up of bad guys in video game history.

Although this is actually the eighth game in the core series, each Dragon Quest game has, like Final Fantasy, a completely different storyline so you don have to worry about not understanding the plot. In any case the game is far more interested in combat than endless cut scenes, with a turn-based system that is simple to use but allows for a huge range of different magical and melee attacks. What gives the game its real charm are the excellent cel-shaded graphics, designed by Dragon Ball Z artist Akira Toriyama. The animation in particular is superb and the game world, in which you are given total freedom to explore, is enormous.

Players are able to capture monsters that inhabit the battlefield. These beasts differ from the creatures you'd normally encounter in battles, as they have special names and abilities unique to them. Once a monster has been scouted, it's added to a growing arsenal of creatures that can then be assembled into teams of three for use as support characters in battle. Outside of using these monster teams in combat, players can also use them in Dragon Quest VIII's "Monster Battle Road" tournament grounds.,
